The fourth trimester refers to the very special but intense time between birth and the baby’s 3rd month birthday. Dr. Harvey Karp, author of “Happiest Baby on the Block” first acknowledged that babies central nervous systems are not fully developed at birth. It takes an additional 3 months until they are mature enough to interact with the world around them. Their only way of expressing themselves is by crying.
For new moms and dads this time can be very challenging and overwhelming, complicated by sleep deprivation and post partum maternal hormonal fluctuations. These three months are the time when new parents need the most support.
The 4th Trimester package is designed to help with this transitional period. This package offers frequent one hour long visits scheduled at: a few days of life, 2 weeks of age, 1 mo, 2 mo, and 3 mo of age. Unlimited video visits or phone calls and Dr Lake’s cell phone number for 24/7 texting access for the many questions that come up during this time.
Vaccines will be administered in the office at the appropriate intervals
Care will be coordinated with a lactation consultant (fee for lactation consultant not included)
Complimentary prenatal visit “get to know you” visit is available before signing up.
Home visits for the first 2 visits can be arranged for an additional fee of $150 per visit. However, please know that in our office there is only one patient seen at a time. There is no waiting room and no waiting.
After the 3 month visit Dr Lake will coordinate ongoing care with the pediatrician of choice or the family can decide to remain a member of the practice.
